About the event

The Pumpkin Extravaganza Meal is an additional part of the Fall Farm Frolic.  It offers attendees the opportunity to sample dishes that showcase savory pumpkin recipes prepared by Chef Alex Curtis.  While enjoying the meal around the campfire, you will hear the story about Charlotte Forten's arrival to St. Helena Island to teach at the historical Penn School, now Penn Center.  Ms. Forten arrived October 28, 1862.  Hear her experience through dramatic reading and reenactment during your meal.  Meet Chef Alex Curtis and hear her description of the dishes she prepared.
