A continuation of our look at the life of Dr. Carver. This time we will focus on his work as an apiarist. We will also harvest honey from our bee hives, participants will get a close look at the hives and the bottling process.

About the event
This event will continue our classes about Dr. George Washington Carver and his multifaceted interests, training and skills pertaining to agriculture, soil health and the overall life farmers in the South during Reconstruction and beyond. This event will showcase his work in the area of beekeeping and the introduction of honey bees to the Southern farmers in and around Tuskegee.
Following the presentation about Dr. Carver participants will see us actually harvest honey from our hives and bottle it.
The event will end with a meal prepared in the Gullah tradition.
