About the event
This month we will celebrate Decoration Day by looking back at the service of the United States Colored Troops with special recognition of those servicement from the Beaufort District. Join us at the farm before heading to cemetery to decorate the graves of two local United States Colored Troops.  Then return to the farm to hear our very own Major Retired Anthony (Tony) Jones share about the service of Robert Smalls and other Gullah men in the USCT, hear some of their stories and sing some of their songs. Hear about the first known celebration of Decoration Day in Charleston SC. All of this takes place while partaking of a delicious farm to table meal prepared in the Gullah food tradition around campfires, under magnificent live oaks. Â
