Farm Events

Ladies, this event is just for you. It's designed to give you an opportunity to learn about camping, spending time outdoors, and ways to enjoy nature. We will include basic skills, choosing equipment, pitching a tent, setting up your site, starting a good campfire and using a camp stove. Some women are traveling in camper vans so we will take a look at different van set ups.
Our recreation skill for this event is coastal fishing and food gathering from our local waterways. You will see a demonstration of basic fishing gear, how to select bait and bait your hook, net casting techniques, and crabbing equipment. The Saturday fieldtrip will be a fishing outing and you will need to acquire a saltwater fishing license to participate. You can buy a temporary license or one for the year if you anticipate fishing after the event. The seafood caught during that activity will be a large part of the meal prepared that evening.

We will have classes about foraging for edible and medicinal plants and fungi. There will be experienced foragers teaching the class, one is a certified forager and and a chef. The weekend will feature farm to table meals for supper, and two lite farm breakfasts. Lunch and snack times will be on your own. There are local vendors invited to show their wares. You may visit with them during the breaks. If you have things you would like to trade/sell please bring them along.

You may bring your musical instruments to play during the campfires.
