HOMESTEAD  CAMP

As often as possible, we invite youth in our community to a weekend camp on the homestead.  Tents are put up, camp tables and other equipment are on the grounds, transforming portions of the property into a campground.  This provides kids an opportunity to experience tent camping, outdoor activities, farm chores, Bible devotions, and great meals together without electronics and interruptions under the leadership of trained adult volunteers.  The weekend also includes a fieldtrip to a nearby recreation and or education attraction.  Our visits have been to Bee City, Gihvans Ferry State Park, Edisto Island Serpentarium, Edisto Beach State Park, and Hunting Island State Park.

We Are Listed with HipCamp!

If you enjoy spending time outdoors for recreation then we have a spot for you!  Morning Glory Homestead is now registered with HipCamp to provide campers with an alternative place to set up camp.  On Hipcamp we can be found under the name Friendly Fowl Farm!

While here you can tour the farm, join in our farm chores, and enjoy special programs to include campfire suppers local storytelling and songs.    As history buffs, we lead tours by foot or by car to local sights.  Join us on a walk or follow us to a Gullah praise house, Penn Center, Fort Fremont, the Chapel of Ease or our favorite fishing spots.  Allow us to introduce you to our local history and our Gullah heritage.

From our farm go on day trips and enjoy the Lowcountry.  Order a travel lunch and we'll have it ready to take with you.  Take classes on the farm while you visit.  Learn about gardening, animal husbandry and tour local small farms in the area. Come see us when we host special farm to table meals with guest chefs preparing food from our farm and neighboring farms. Meet local vendors of  organic  products.
